OK, that makes sense now. When the spammer posted, that made the thread show up in "View new posts". I remove the spam, but dont check the date on the thread and reply to it on 10/13, Memnoc posts on the 14th, I think he is double posting, etc.
Somehow I missed this thread back in Feb. If I had posted in it back then, I would have realized it was old on Oct 13.

Oh right, you weren't the one who posted 5 days later, my bad.

... This thread has kinda derailed.

Afraid you might be replying to an actual spambot, Savacc - His website etc. in his profile certainly looks like that :P

Really?
I approved his post because there were no links to any products. If he is a spammer what is this post accomplishing for him?

OK I just looked at his profile and it advertises Valentine's Day gifts to India. Yeah, I have lots of girlfriends in India I want to send gifts to
How many people are going to look at someone's profile and find that spam?

I think it's not about getting people to look, but about getting a better page ranking at Google, which is at least partially based on other Google-listed sites linking to it. It doesn't help for them to add it here as we add what's called a no-follow attribute to the link, telling Google to not count our link to their site as any indication of approval or anything.
