Jenner and Fooman tool

Post by panino76 » Tue May 20, 2008 4:32 pm

Hello folks,

the old experienced crafters like me surely will remember this tool. It has been a really valid helper in crafting for me since I started to craft 4 years ago.
Through the years many things have changed in SWG, and that include crafting too (only 4 professions, different schematics, outdated ones, new resources and so on....)

I don't know if actually there's an updated version of the tool, I've always kept mine updated with every change that has come into the game. So, now, I would like to know if someone may be interested in having this tool. I'm asking because I don't want to create confusion with different version of the tool, if there's none officially available I could try to upload the file somewhere providing the link on this boards and eventually giving you some informations about how it works now.

During the years, I have touched the code many times, in an attempt to optimize the performance and fix some bugs.

For the new crafters, the JnF tool is an Excel file that let you choose your crafting profession(s) providing you every sort of information about the schematics you can craft, suggestiong you what resources is better to use (among the ones you will insert inside the database) and assisting you in what resources you may extract among the ones actually in spawn. About this feature, I've recentely aligned the code so that now it downloads the latest resources from this site (at the begin it was configurated to dowload the latest resources from SWGcraft.com). Last but not least, I've included inside the sheet the Lantyssa's chef tissue calculator, an usefull tool for the chefs out there :)

This is enough for now, thanks for your attention :)

I would LOVE an updated version of this tool. I tried updating it myself after the combat upgrade, but broke it horribly. I still use it some, but it's so out of date at this point it's not nearly as helpful as it once was.

I would love to check out your version of the tool.. having just returned to crafting after a few years away from SWG, any spreadsheet like that is a huge help!

Ok folks,

let me work on the worksheet in the weekend for a final review on munition schematics (I have a munition trader but never played that profession deeply). I'll try to find the requirements for the new weapons you get with collections/instances (maybe Zimoon can help me with this)

If I have time, I'll compare the caps with the latest updated Zimoon's file to check everything is ok, and at the beginning of the next week I'll upload the final revision of the file with a short Beginner's guide to help with the sheet's usage.

That's all for now

Sorry, I am not AS and have just collected some very basic data. With the upcoming AS upgrade I would just do the basic and would not put too much hours into it. It seems to be quite some changes to how weapons work. WS will be the same though, almost.

I spend most of my spare time into SWGAide at the moment, which in due time (read many months) will have support for schematics and more. At the moment I am adding resource browsing and summer is approaching even in the snowy Sweden so as soon as the ice bears and reindeer leave streets I will spend some time outdoors too ;)

Panino, if you have an updated version of this tool I'd love to have it. Even if it's not completely up to speed it would be a heck of a lot better than the old tool.

Please? :D

Sure, as I said, soon I'll upload an updated version of this tool, with some basic informations on how to use it (especially for new traders)

It would be nice so see a combination of the JnF Tool with SWGAide. As it is now, I build up my stocklist with MyRes. To use the JnF I have to re-enter all the data, same if SWGAide is coming up with some sort of stocklist and ressource management.

If there would be at least one database for all tools, that will be much easier.

But all in all, I am also looking forward for the new JnF

SWGAide will have an import feature for MyRes and any CSV file using MyRes' file format. That means, any spreadsheet (Excel et al) can write an output file that SWGAide will be able to import.

:)
