Find Resources page

Post by Sobuno » Sun Sep 09, 2007 8:39 pm

Just to let you guys know, I begun work on the 'Find Resources' page now (Actually, the design of it has been ready for a long time, just adding the code to make it work now).

(Note to the moderators: You should be able to see the page)

Everyone should be able to access the Find Resources page now to test it out. Sorting hasn't been implemented yet, but it shouldn't be too hard to get made

EDIT:

The 'Unavailable for x days' hasn't been implemented yet either

Added "Available for x days" and "Unavailable for x days"

Find Resources page should now be feature-complete

Firstly WOW, what an incredible job you are doing!!! You have my eternal thanks.

<salute>

Just a suggestion, on the Find Resources page, don't limit the output of a query to 10 resources, allow the user to specify how many resources per page the query should display.

Also, it would be great if a user got a pop-up or just a text highlight of the resources stats on mouse over, or if the resources displayed via Find Resources were clickable.

I'm sure you have already thought of this stuff or have even better ideas.

Once again, thanks!!!

Found a bug. Find seems to forget which server it's searching.

Steps to recreate:

1. Find Resources (Server: Lowca Default settings except: Current Only, OQ 900)
2. Sort results by Rating once - results came out with lowest results first
3. Sort by ratings a second time to bring the best tot the top

Top resource listed was called Omoufi - Kammris Iron located on Yavin 4.

Unfortunately, there isn't a resource called Omoufi on the Lowca server. So I did a little searching and found the resource in question. It was on the Interpid server.

Ran the same steps twice to verify.

You are correct. Also, I identified the bug now, it's the dropdown listing that is wrong (Guess I just forgot to change it from the values it had at SWGCraft.com to what it has here)

Should be fixed within an hour

Okay, should work correctly now, thank you for submitting the bug report

I also updated the input form to look more in style with the other pages on the site. Oh, and the server box now obeys your choice from other pages ("Sticky Server"). The planet box still defaults to All Planets on this page (I felt it was better that way :))

This is probably me overlooking something obvious, but in case it's not...

I just tried searching Bloodfin for all inert gas with minimal value OQ of 900 and it's not returning anything.

When I just search for inert gases, it returns many and displays 10, but didn't see anywhere indicating how many total listings or pages there are.

I won't be surprised if I missed something on the site, or important information you've posted somewhere pertaining to this, but wanted to post some feedback in case it's actually useful :D

Thanks.

*edit*
Just to clarify, first attempt:

Bloodfin
All planets
Inert Gas
Available & Verified were tried in all combinations
Minimal Value
OQ-900

Second attempt was same but no value in stats.

Well, I tried just searching for Inert Gas on your server now and it returns about 15 or so, none of them has OQ over 900 so that might be your issue. An Inert Gas with OQ above 900 might still have spawned back on your server once, but it wasn't posted to SWGCraft apparently

A quick check at old SWGCraft.com for Bloodfin: Inert Gas OQ > 900 gives dozens of hits, pages, so that cannot be the issue.

I also found another anomaly while trying to find something useful here. If I rather choose the Experimental Values 100% OQ, most users want the result set to be sorted with the best OQ first. Clicking Rating seems to only sort the presented set but not the entire set from the database, is that the case?

Can it be that only a subset of all gases is scanned in the first phase, rather than building a set from the entire database content for Bloodfin (in this example)? Just a thought.

I know that page is still experimental :)

At Bloodfin you have for example
Alob Culsion Inert Gas 310 976

this gas seems to be missing as I cannot find it by the Find feature using only its name and/or type at Bloodfin. Is that gas really present in the database? Can it be that some resources are not reliably imported from SWGCraft.com?

If the latter, perhaps we need to set up some script that slowly scans the SWGCraft.com and if not present in this site's database it is added. Perhaps several such scans are necessary over the time?
